Google Adwords testing Search Extensions

November 1st, 2013 in Performance Marketing 51 second read

It looks like Google are testing another new Adwords Extension to add to the growing range it already currently offers.

The new search extension will allow a user to perform an internal site search on the advertiser website directly from the search ad.

When a user performs a search using the search extension they will be directed to a search results page on the advertisers website in essence making internal site search results the landing page.

This could be an incredibly powerful extension for advertisers who are bidding on category keywords. Success at the end of the day will fall down to the capabilities of an advertiser’s internal search functions.

Although the search extension is still in beta testing stages by Google it does raise the question for advertisers to look at the capabilities of their own internal search function in preparation for a full role out of the new search extension.
